liar
it’s a powerful word that we use innocuously: we jokingly call a friend a liar in a flirty way to indicate interest, we use it to tattle on our siblings for acts of wrongdoing, hell, we even use it to flirt.
we tell little white lies to our acquaintances, friends, and family all the time. i’m fine. don’t worry. nothing’s wrong. don’t worry about me. after all, it’s what they want to hear. any other answer would procure excessive coddling and probing.
liar is a word we take for granted. but we shouldn’t, because it is slowly defining who we are what we will be. it makes me wonder, at what point do those little white lies turn us into full bodied liars? when do our good intentions to soothe the worry of loved ones turn us into bad people?
